How to Use Google Drive for Wedding Photo Uploads Without Guests Downloading an App

Guest Experience

Make Sharing Memories Easier with Google Drive

One of the best parts of a wedding is looking back on all the beautiful moments captured by your guests. But instead of using an app, why not make it easy for everyone by using Google Drive? This step-by-step guide will show you how to set up a Google Drive folder for your wedding photos and how to share it with your guests using a QR code. Plus, we’ve included a video walkthrough to make it even easier! You can also download our free Canva Template

Step 1: Go to Google Drive

First things first, head over to Google Drive. If you don’t already have a Google account, you’ll need to create one.

Step 2: Create a New Folder

Once you’re in Google Drive, create a new folder by clicking on the “New” button in the top left corner and selecting “Folder.” Name it something memorable, like “Wedding Photos” or “Our Special Day.”

Step 3: Share and Copy the Link

Next, right-click on your new folder and select “Share.”  Then hit Share again, don't copy the link until you've changed the settings. In the sharing settings, change the access to "Anyone with the link" and the change "Viewer" to "Editor", this allows guest to add their photos and is the most important step, with out changing this guest will only be able to view the folder and not add pictures. Now you can click “Copy link.” Make sure the link settings are set to “Anyone with the link can view.”

It should look like this

Step 4: Generate a QR Code

To make it easy for your guests to access the folder, create a QR code using a free QR code generator. I recommend using Canva, as it allows you to design a beautiful final product for display at your wedding. Make sure to use a generator that doesn’t expire or wait until close to your wedding to generate the code.

I also have a free Canva template you can download here. Just add your QR Code, edit the names and print at your local print shop-or directly through Canva. These are business card sized so guest can take them home an upload them after the wedding too!

Step 5: Design and Print

Design your QR code display using Canva or any other design tool you prefer. Make sure it’s clear and easy to read. Print enough copies to place on guest tables and a few extras for guests to take home and upload photos the next day.

Step 6: Display at Your Wedding

Place the printed QR code displays on each guest table at your wedding. This way, everyone knows exactly how to upload their photos. It’s a good idea to announce it during the reception or include instructions in your wedding program.

Step 7: Enjoy Your Photos

After the wedding, sit back and enjoy all the wonderful photos your guests have uploaded. Google Drive makes it easy to download, share, and print these precious memories.
